Transitional Home The Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of VA and the Daughters of Zelophehad
In metropolitan Richmond, there are approximately 1300 homeless persons. At any one time, there are 400 homeless families. Currently, there are only 105 emergency beds, 165 transitional beds, and 160 permanent supportive beds. Daughters of Zelophehad is an ecumenical Christian transitional housing program for homeless women and their children that provides a home, help, faith, and a future for homeless women and their children. Program participants may stay up to 24 months in a safe, nurturing environment where they may be healed and gain tools that foster economic independence. The ECW of the Diocese of Virginia and the Daughters of Zelophehad have come together ecumenically to support a home for our sisters coming out of prison to transition them to everyday life. This home will provide 5-6 women transitional housing and spiritual support along with job and life skills training. Its purpose is to empower women to move from poverty to economic self sufficiency, independence and responsibility. How we can help: · Add this ministry to your prayer list · Contribute to the ECW Diocesan goal of $5,000 each year for three years · Contribute items needed to set up housekeeping such as furniture, bedding, kitchen supplies, linens and clothing for work, Bibles and games
As you can see in the pictures above, most of the renovations have been completed.
