Another First for the ECW

On Saturday, September 18, the Episcopal Church Women of Virginia experienced a first.  Board members from the Diocese of Virginia Episcopal Church Women joined together for a meeting with the Episcopal Church Women Board of the Diocese of Southern Virginia for the first time.  Beblon Parks, president, and other ECW Board members met at Manakin Episcopal Church, Midlothian for the Fall Board Meeting of the Diocese of Southern Virginia ECW.

Nancy Smith, president of the Diocese of Southern Virginia ECW, extended the invitation after both presidents agreed to “get together back home” following the 2009 ECW Triennial Meeting.  The goal behind the meeting was to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two groups as well as to share information on ministries and programs.

The meeting included a question and answer session in which Ms. Parks addressed the future of the ECW and how to cope with lack of support and commitment, generating a lively discussion.*

Diocese of Virginia ECW Board member Sharon Nachman shared information on the Sacristy in a Box Project she spearheaded while Jayne Feminella, Diocese of Virginia Region IX ECW president, spoke about the successful Advent luncheon held in her region.  It was clear as the ladies chatted while sharing a delicious lunch that, while this may have been the first time they met together, it certainly would not be the last.
